Weekly Update

1 December 2008

IMPORTANT DATES
Monday, 1 December:
The children will be taken to the theatre for rehearsal. We will be leaving the school at 8 o’clock. The children will be brought back to school and ready for collection at 3 o’clock. Please send a healthy packed lunch and a bottle of water.

Tuesday, 2 December:
The children will be taken to the theatre for a full dress rehearsal. We will be leaving the school once all the children are fully dressed and have stage make-up on. The children will be brought back to school and ready for collection at 4 o’clock. Please send a healthy packed lunch and a bottle of water.

Wednesday, 3 December:
There will be no school; however we kindly ask that children have sufficient sleep and rest, so they are ready for the concert. The bus will be transporting the children to the theatre. The children will be told individually what time they are required to be at school. All children will be dressed, with stage make-up, at school. Please send packed food and a bottle of water.

SCHOOL HOLIDAYS

School will be closing for the December holidays on Friday, 5 December at 12h00. We wish all families a safe and happy holiday.

FINAL CYCLE REPORTS

Final cycle reports will be available on Thursday, 11 December and Friday, 12 December from the school office. The office is open from 8h00 until 16h00.

CONCERT PHOTOS AND DVD

Individual and group photos will be taken during the full dress rehearsal. Individual photos cost R10-00 per photo and the group photos will be on a CD at the cost of R50-00. The individual photos will be on display in the office from Tuesday, 9 December until Friday, 12 December, from which you can place orders.

A DVD will also be made of the concert. DVD’s cost R100-00 and will be available in January 2009. A form will be sent out during the next week to place orders.

REFRESHMENTS

On the evening of the concert, a cash bar and tuck shop will be available from the theatre. We kindly ask that each family brings a plate of eats.

SCHOOL ATTENDANCE

Please note it is highly essential for the children to attend school over the next two weeks. We are unable to practise sufficiently if there are children absent. The children have been given workbooks and a project to complete when they are not practising. We appreciate your support in this regard. 

KIND REQUEST

Rishi Jawaharlal, in Grade 4, is currently in I.C.U recovering from major brain surgery. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and we kindly ask that all Courtney House families remember him in their thoughts and ways of worship, so he may make a full and speedy recovery.

CONCERT INFORMATION

URGENT!! PLEASE SEND ANY EMPTY CEREAL BOXES TO SCHOOL, AS WE NEED THEM TO CONTINUE WITH THE HEAD MASKS FOR THE CONCERT.

Concert tickets are now on sale! Tickets are R50-00 and are available from the school office. There are a limited number of seats still available so please book now to avoid disappointment.

Thank you to all parents that have paid for their child’s costume. If you have not done so, please pay at the school office by Wednesday, 19 November.

A letter to all families will be sent out during the course of the week with additional information pertaining to the concert.

FAREWELL

We would like to wish Teacher Ilze well, as she will be going on maternity leave from Friday, 14 November. Teacher Ilze is expecting her second child, a baby boy at the beginning of December. Her family is looking forward to the new addition and her little girl, Tarien is looking forward to having a baby brother. We wish them all of the best.

CAPE TOWN TOUR - 2009

The Grade 6 to AS1 students will be going on tour from Wednesday, 18 February 2009 to Wednesday 25, February 2009. The tour is a combination of educational, cultural and adventure-type activities and visits encompassing routes between Pretoria, Cape Town and the Garden Route. A non-refundable deposit of R550-00 which reserves your child’s space and serves as a confirmation that your child will participate in the tour is payable by Wednesday, 26 November 2008. Please pay the amount at the school office.

OPEN AFTERNOON

INFORMATION ON CAREERS – SENIOR STUDENTS

During the last two weeks of term, we would like to put time aside to bring about awareness among our senior students, about the numerous career opportunities available. Thus, we would like to request of any parent who would like to give a talk to our senior students about their profession, career or job, to please contact the school and leave their details with our administrator, Michéle-Ange.
