OPEN AFTERNOON
We would like to thank parents for attending the school`s Open Afternoon. If you were unable to attend, you are invited to make an appointment to see the relevant teacher(s).

EXAMS FOR IGCSE1 – AS LEVEL STUDENTS
IGCSE 1 to AS Level students are writing exams from Wednesday, 26 August to Friday, 4 September. The relevant students have got copies of the exam timetable and are reminded to line up outside the AS level classroom fifteen minutes before the start of the exam session. Students are only to come to school for their exams and then leave directly afterwards.

UPCOMING EVENTS
The Grade 3 class will hold their Entrepreneur`s sale on 17 September for the Pre – Reception to Grade 3 children. Please assist your child in preparation for this.

A presentation by Fansa Medical Association will be held on the Eye and Ear on 7 September 2009 at Dey Street for Pre-Reception to Grade 5.

MEASLES IMMUNISATIONS
A letter from the Department of Health informing parents of the measles immunisations went out last week. Only those children, whose parents have signed the immunisation consent form, will receive the injection. Nurses from the Health Department shall be here to do these immunisations, however, they are not able to provide the date, which may be anytime up to and including 4th September.

REGISTRATION PACK FOR 2010
All families shall receive a registration pack containing information pertaining to next year. Please consult this information and complete the enclosed document if you would like your child to continue at Courtney House next year. Please remember that the school requires a full term`s written prior notice for children who will no longer attend the school at Courtney House.

WE CARE PROJECT
This week is `all things fun` week We would like to provide the disadvantaged children with colouring books, colouring pencils, paint, reading books ect. Please note that all families are more than welcome to supply any of the goods from previous weeks. Let`s reach out and provide a basic need for those who cannot provide for themselves.

FLU VIRUS
In order to prevent the flu virus from spreading, please ensure that, should your child begin showing signs of flu (sore throat, headache, body ache, fever, coughing, vomiting and/or diarrhea), they are kept at home until fully recovered. It is further advised that a medical evaluation be carried out. Parents are requested to inform the school of flu-infected children. The one or two confirmed cases of H1NI Virus have made a full and complete recovery with no complications or need for hospitalization.

To prevent your child from picking up an infectious illness such as flu; ensure that they are appropriately dressed, take an extra multi-vitamin or immune booster and eat an additional supply of fresh fruit and vegetables. Washing of hands regularly is also advised.

We would like to notify parents of students who are writing Cambridge exams this year that there will be a study workshop during the September/October break (21 September to 2 October) to help prepare students for their important exams.

OPEN AFTERNOON
We kindly invite all parents to the Open Afternoon taking place on Wednesday 26 August, after school. This provides a good opportunity to view children`s work and to speak to your child`s teachers. Should you not be able to attend, please contact your child`s homeroom teacher in order to make alternative arrangements.
Teacher Nicolette is only available to see parents from 16h00 to 17h00, due to exam invigilation.
There shall be a sale of children`s books on this same afternoon at the Dey Street Campus from 12:00 – 17:00.
Pre-R to Grade 3: Junior Campus.
Grade 4 – 7: Intermediate Campus.
Checkpoints to AS level: Senior Campus.

ACADEMIC REPORTS
Parents of children in Grade 1 to Grade 8 are requested to collect and sign for the Mid-Year Cycle Reports, if they`ve not already done so. These are available in the school office.

WE CARE PROJECT
week we will focus on caring for animals. The charity we support is Red Nose. Kindly note that they care for dogs, cats and horses. We can supply them with food, blankets etc. and money, to enable them to buy necessary medicine for the animals. Let`s reach out and provide a basic need for vulnerable animals.

FAREWELL
We would like to bid farewell to Teacher Cynthia, who will be leaving the school on Wednesday ,26 August and wish her everything of the best for the future.

Teacher Amparo, who has had over five years` experience in teaching Spanish, will be taking over Teacher Cynthia`s Spanish classes from Monday, 24 August.
Physical Education classes shall be taught by Coaches Evangelos and Biso, who are qualified Sport Science graduates from the University of Pretoria.

We thank the company, “What Walrus”, for the presentation for pre-Reception - Grade 4 on the topic Spring and Insects held on Thursday 13 August at Dey Street.

This week we will focus on bringing blankets and bathroom necessities. e.g. toothpaste, soap, shampoo. Let`s reach out and provide a basic need for those who cannot provide for themselves.

SUMMER GOLF-SHIRTS
Adri du Plooy, from Ruler Clothing, shall be available on Friday 21 August between 07h30 and 15h00 for those who would like to purchase the Navy and Red Courtney House Summer Golf Shirts (with a school logo.) Separate iron-on logos are also available. For more information, please contact Adri on 078 459 8824.   

DYNAMO
We kindly remind all the children to please bring the correct clothing for dynamo and remember to practise equilibrium.
