Courtney House Winter Wear

Adri from Ruler Clothing shall be available at Courtney House (202 Main Street Campus) on Friday, 23rd April between 07:00 – 14:00  for parents to purchase and collect orders placed for the winter wear range.    Please contact Adri on 078 459 8824 to place your orders.

Measles Inoculations

South Africa has had an increase in measles cases during 2009 and 2010 compared to previous years.  If not controlled, there may be more cases of measles.  Measles can be a serious disease.
The Health Department will be visiting the school on Tuesday morning to administer the Measles vaccine.   Consent forms have been sent home with the children, these forms need to be returned to the school by Monday, 19th April.  

Mid-Term Break

Please take note that there will be a mid-term break with no school from Monday 26 April till Friday 30 April.  We wish you a safe and enjoyable time away.  School will resume as normal from Monday 3 May.

Junior Adventure Camp

Teachers Demi and Carmen are happy to report that a fun-filled, exciting and marvelous camp was had by all who attended.  Thank you to Abre and Sonja from Bushveld Adventures for their efforts and terrific camp activities.

Karate Classes

Karate classes with Soon Pretorius at the Albert Street Academy shall begin on Monday 12 April.  Those children who pre-booked the transport to and from the Academy shall be transported by Elliot, our driver, in the school’s new 14-seater bus.

For more information about the karate classes, please contact the Academy on (012) 460 2096.  Parents are also urged to complete the forms and return them as soon as possible.

Transport

There are a few places available for those who would like Elliot to transport their child to and from school in the school bus.  For more information please contact the school office so that this can be arranged.

Extra Murals will commence on Monday 19 April. You will receive information pertaining to the extra mural clubs being presented during the second term.

Senior Tour

Last year, the decision was taken collaboratively by the co-ordinators, to cancel the tour for students in Grade 7 to A-Level. The reason being that the costs have escalated due to the Fifa World Cup Soccer and it was not deemed necessary to place extra financial pressure on parents. In addition, the extended June-July holiday period has resulted in the teachers having to use every bit of teaching time available in order to cover the syllabi content.

Welcome

Welcome to the start of a happy and vibrant second term. We trust that a peaceful and restful holiday period was had by all.

We welcome Estelle and Pam to our teaching team and wish them an energetic and fruitful time with us. In addition, we welcome Jenny, who will function as a Personal Assistant to the co-ordinators.

Farewell

A sad farewell to Teacher Lee-Ann as she has resigned to take up a new venture. We extend best wishes for her future success and happiness.

RAW Pizza Charity Drive

A warm word of thanks to all who supported the RAW Pizza charity drive which took place at the end of last term. We managed to purchase a grand total of 195 pizzas with the proceeds assisting to feed underprivileged children. Each child who contributed shall be issued with an official Mimmos certificate signed by Jeremy Mansfield.

Congratulations to our Grade 6 class for being the overall winning class.

Congratulations to Mikhail Kessery, in Grade 1, for purchasing the most pizzas.

Junior Adventure Camp

Children in Grade 4, 5 and 6 shall leave for their Bushveld Adventure Camp in Parys on Monday 12 April and will return on Friday 16 April at around 17:00. Please ensure that your child is at school by 07:45 on Monday 12 April, as the bus departs from Giovanetti Street at 08:00 sharp. We wish our junior campers a safe and fun-filled time away.
