Weekly Update

Waterkloof Corner Pharmacy

The nurses from Waterkloof Corner Pharmacy shall be here on Friday 3 June, during the school morning, to administer de-worming medication to those children whose parents have completed the forms that were distributed last week. This only applies to children in Pre-R to Grade 7.

Progress Reports

Senior Primary Phase (Grade 4, 5 & 6) reports shall be available for collection on Tuesday 31 May.

Sad Farewell

We extend best wishes to Teacher Ursula as she takes on a joint working venture with her husband. We are sad to see her go and are most appreciative of the excellent work she has done as a Biology/Science teacher and subject-head. We wish her much success in her new role.

Science Fair

Courtney House will be holding an Internal Science Fair this year. It shall take place during the month of August. Additional information, such as dates and times, will be made available before the end of this term. Please take note that it is compulsory for each child (Grade 4 – 7) to participate. This participation ranges from simple poster creation to designing models and completing experiments.

Youth Day Activity

To commemorate Youth Day on 16 June, all Courtney House children and students shall participate in an activity directed at issues facing the youth of today. To prepare for this, each child and student is requested to bring R5, to be handed in to their class teacher, by 3 June. This special activity will take place before the end of the term.

Entrepreneurs’ Day

The Grade 2 class will have their entrepreneurs’ sale on Tuesday 14 June at the Junior Campus. Parents are urged to assist their child with the preparations thereof. For further information, Teacher Natasha may be contacted.

Speech and Drama

Speech and Drama has been introduced as an extra mural activity for children in Grade 2 – 7. This activity shall commence on Friday 3rd June.

Checkpoint, IGCSE and A/AS-Level Students

These students, except for those writing external Cambridge examinations, return to school for classes as per normal on Wednesday 1st June.

Collection of Children

We urge parents who are able to collect their children directly after school or on completion of their extra mural activity, to please do so to alleviate the aftercare facility from becoming over-attended.

Term End

The second term of the school year draws to a close on Wednesday 15 June at the normal time. The third term resumes on Tuesday 12 July.

Senior Tour of Eastern Cape/Garden Route

Indemnity forms and submission of the first payment MUST be in by Tuesday 24 May. This payment is essential to confirm reservations and late confirmations cannot be accepted.

Science Fair

Courtney House will be holding an Internal Science Fair this year. It shall take place during the month of August. Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Archery Coach (Ria) will not be able to present archery this term. Archery shall, however, resume in the third term.

No School

Due to the Elections in South Africa, Wednesday 18 May has been declared an official public holiday. Except for senior students writing examinations, there will not be school on this day.

Cambridge International Examinations

IGCSE and A/AS-Level students have already begun their International Examinations and therefore, we remind all children to be quiet in and around the examination rooms and surrounding areas.

Students writing both internal and external examinations are urged to arrive at the correct time for their particular exam and to be collected as soon as their examination is over, as stipulated by Cambridge. All IGCSE and A/AS-Level students return to school for regular classes on 1 June.

Checkpoint Students

The checkpoint students (Grade 8) will have regular school from 10 May until 17 May. Thereafter, they only arrive at school to write their internal examination and must be collected from school immediately. All checkpoint students return to school for regular classes, after their examination period, on 1 June.

Winter Uniform Supplies

The colder weather is fast approaching. Please contact Adri, from Ruler Clothing, on rulerclothing@gmail.com to place your orders for the winter uniform range of long sleeve shirts, jackets, caps and scarves. Adri will be available on Thursday 12 May at the Senior Campus from 07h00 till 14h30 for orders and collections. Please make use of this opportunity.
