Youth Day Activity

To commemorate Youth Day on 16 June, all Courtney House children and students shall participate in an activity directed at issues facing the youth of today. To prepare for this, each child and student was requested to bring R5. This special activity will take place on Wednesday, 15 June, during the school morning.

Entrepreneurs’ Day

The Grade 2 class will have their entrepreneurs’ sale on Tuesday 14 June at the Junior Campus. Parents are urged to assist their child with the preparations thereof. For further information, Teacher Natasha may be contacted.

Sad Farewell

Our enthusiastic and spontaneous Reception Year teacher, Wendy, has decided to become a “stay-at-home” mommy to her two young children, and therefore, shall not be returning in the new term. We thank Wendy for the outstanding standard of work she has delivered and shall truly miss her exceptional talents and exuberant personality. We extend best wishes for her future happiness and wish her well.

Ruler Clothing

Adri, from Ruler Clothing, our uniform supplier, is expecting her set of twins in September. She shall still be available but only to a limited degree between August and November. Therefore, it is suggested that parents start placing orders for the summer shirts and caps sooner rather than later. Please contact Adri on rulerclothing@gmail.com

Term End

The second term of the school year draws to a close on Wednesday 15 June at the normal time. The third term resumes on Tuesday 12 July.

Many families are travelling during the June-July holidays, so we wish them a safe, happy and fun-filled experience and look forward to their return in the new term.

Holiday School

There are NO fun holiday school programmes at Courtney House during the holiday periods. Teachers work exceptionally hard throughout the term and require a rest time and a period of time in which to prepare adequately for the next term.

Some senior students (Checkpoint, IGCSE and A/AS-Level) are required to participate in additional classes during this holiday period to prepare themselves for the Cambridge International Examinations toward the end of the year. Your child will have received notification of this from the specific subject teacher.

Healthy Nutrition

Parents are urged to provide healthy, nutritious and energy-filled food and snacks for their children’s lunch boxes particularly during the colder months. In order to learn effectively, the brain needs a good balance of protein, carbohydrates and hydration (water and fluids). Some suggestions include: wholesome sandwiches filled with cheese, peanut-butter, marmite or meat/chicken/fish; nuts; fruit; yoghurt; health bars; dried fruit and fruit juice.Although, there is a tuck-shop facility everyday at the Senior Campus, this is only at 12:00, so a packed lunch is still necessary for a mid-morning snack.

It is also highly essential that children and students eat a nutritious breakfast such as cooked porridge; Pronutro; Jungle Oats; Bran Cereals and/or eggs (boiled, poached or scrambled). A banana is a quick and nutritious yet energy-loaded fruit to grab on the way out in the mornings if time is a problem. Breakfast Cereal bars are another alternative.

Lost Property

There are a large number of school uniform items (some brand-new and unmarked) in the lost property boxes. Please check these boxes as any items not claimed by the end of the week shall be distributed to a children’s home.

Science Fair

Courtney House will be holding an Internal Science Fair this year. It shall take place during the month of August. Additional information, such as dates and times, will be made available before the end of this term. Please take note that it is compulsory for each child (Grade 4 – 7) to participate. This participation ranges from simple poster creation to designing models and completing experiments.
