Grade 6 Outing

The Grade 6 class had an enjoyable visit to a Greek restaurant on Friday to round off their theme of Ancient Greece as part of their History syllabus. Thank you to Teacher Carmen for her wonderful efforts in organising and arranging this memorable trip.

Uniform Items

Orders for summer uniform items can be placed at the school office with Michele-Ange.

Examinations

Please take note of the following information pertaining to examination dates. Parents of ALL these students are urged to ensure that effective studying is done. Healthy nutrition, moderate exercise and sufficient sleep are also vital for examination success.

Grade 3 Examinations

Grade 3 children will write Cambridge Primary Programme examinations in English, Science and Mathematics on the 1^st, 8^th and 15^th November respectively.

Senior Primary Phase Examinations

Examination schedules indicating dates and times for examinations for students in Grade 4 to 7 were handed out. Please ensure that you are aware of this information so as to assist your child.

Grade 8 Examinations

Grade 8 students shall write Cambridge International Checkpoint Examinations from 21^st October till 2^nd November. Please ensure that students arrive early and are collected on time on the days they write these examinations. Schedules were sent home with all these details.

Cambridge International Examinations

IGCSE and A-Level students have begun the October-November examination sitting.

We wish all our students the best for their examinations.

Relocations

A reminder that should you be relocating or terminating your children’s tuition at Courtney House, three months’ written notice is required as per the contract signed. Please ensure that such letters are handed in at the school office as soon as possible, otherwise you will be held liable for a further three months worth of tuition fees.

Junior Phase Civvies Day

Children in Pre-R to Grade 3 shall have a” Summer Fever Civvies Day” on Tuesday 25^th October. They are required to bring R5 and may wear ordinary clothes of their choice to school.

Heritage Day Writing Competition

Congratulations to the following A-Level students for achieving 1^st, 2^nd and 3^rd place respectively in the Heritage Day Writing Competition:

Keegan Frances, Michael Liebenberg and Katleho Sekape

Thank you to all students who participated. A compiled booklet of all entered works is for sale at R10 per copy. Please order and pay with Teachers Nicolette and Debbie.

Physical Education

Children and students are encouraged to wear suitable clothing on the days they have PE lessons. Sport shoes or trainers and caps for the sun are essential. It is advisable for children to apply sun-block.

History Outing

AS/A Level History students shall view “The Help” as part of their US History syllabus on Monday 17^th October from 11:00 am.

Academic Reports

Cycle reports for students in Grade 7 to A-Level were available for collection from the school office from Tuesday 11th October. If you have not already done so, please ensure that these reports are collected as soon as possible.

Extra Murals

Extra Mural Schedules were handed out on Friday. These activities will commence from Monday 17^th October. Please ensure that the envelopes provided are used to tick the extra mural choices and the exact payment is enclosed in the envelope. The school office may not receive payment for extra murals if this is not enclosed in the envelope.

Welcome Back

The new term begins on Monday, 10^th October. We welcome all families back from the Spring Holiday and trust everyone shall have an enjoyable term ahead.

Entrepreneur’s Day

The Grade 1 class had a successful Entrepreneur’s Day last term and thank you to the parents who assisted their children with the sale. Thank you to Teacher Jana for her wonderful efforts.

Extra Murals

Information pertaining to the extra mural activities to be presented during the term shall be made available during the week. Extra Mural activities shall commence from Monday 17^th October.

Study Skills Workshops

Students in Grade 8 to A-Level shall participate in Study Skills Workshops presented by the teachers during the course of the school day. These workshops shall take place over the next few weeks and prove to be effective in assisting students to develop successful study methods.

Cambridge International Examinations
