Weekly Update

11 June 2012

Foreign Languages Festival

Children in Reception Year to Grade 7 have been preparing items for recital in their specific foreign language (French, Spanish or Afrikaans). External judges shall be here to listen to these recitals. This is all in aid of encouraging the oral component of the foreign languages and to stimulate confidence in communicating in another language.

On Thursday, 21 June, parents of children in Reception Year to Grade 4 are invited to watch their child’s recital. This will take place at the Junior Campus (Dey Street) between 9:00 and 11:30.

The children in Grade 5, 6 and 7 shall recite to their peers and teachers from 12:30 to 13:30.

Community Collection

A sincere word of thanks is extended to all the children and students who were so generous in their donations of non-perishable foodstuff and blankets/toys for the poor. These will be most appreciated, particularly as the colder weather has arrived.

Progress Reports

Academic progress reports for students in Pre-R through to AS/A-Level shall be available for collection from the school office on Wednesday 20 June. Parents or a designated adult are required to collect and sign for their child’s academic report. No reports may be handed out before this date.

Congratulations

We wish to congratulate Teacher Heidi (Grade 3 Teacher) on her recent engagement, and extend best wishes to her and her fiancé as they proceed with wedding arrangements.

Winter Accessories

Children are permitted to have winter accessories such as a blanket, hot-water bottle, gloves and scarves at school, however, we request that these items are clearly marked with the child’s name. In addition, please could these items be plain and toned down in terms of colour and style.

Accounts

Please ensure that the correct reference name and code is used when making electronic payments. A copy of proof of payment must be sent or faxed to the school office or emailed to accounts@courtney.co.za.

Relocations

Should you be relocating or transferring your child to a different school, please be advised that the school office requires a written notice of one school term or three months.

Office Hours

Parents are reminded that school office hours are from 07:50 till 16:00 each day. Administrative requests and queries cannot be attended to before or after these times.

Term End

The second term ends on Friday 22 June for the winter holiday and school resumes on Monday 23 July for the third term.
