Extra Murals

Extra mural activities shall begin on Monday 30 July. Please ensure that you submit the extra-mural envelope and payment to the school office as soon as possible.

Accountancy

We are thrilled to announce that Teacher CJ shall be presenting Accountancy as an academic subject from this term, starting with the current Checkpoint class as a pilot year.

Cell Phones

A reminder that students MAY NOT have their phones with them at school. This applies to all students from this term, including those in IGCSE and AS/A-Level. If a student is found in possession of a phone, it shall be confiscated and kept for 5 school days.

Art Project

The next Art Project is a Picasso Collage. Children in Pre-R to Grade 7 are required to bring items such as buttons; material; fabric off-cuts; bottle labels; wool; string; fancy paper bits; newspaper clippings and other related objects. These items must be brought to school during the week so that they can start their project on Friday.

School Gates

For safety and security purposes, school gates shall only be opened at 07:00 am. Parents are asked NOT to drop their children off before this time as there is no supervision and it is simply not safe.

Cambridge International Examinations

IGCSE and AS/A Level students, who wrote their international examinations in May-June, shall receive their results from Cambridge on 14 August.

Office Hours

Parents are reminded that school office hours are from 07:50 till 16:00 each day. Administrative requests and queries cannot be attended to before or after these times. Michele-Ange shall return on the 1^st August.

Relocations

A reminder that, should you be relocating or transferring your child to another school, the contract requires that you provide one term’s written notice. Families who are relocating and shall not be returning in 2013 are asked to inform the office as soon as possible.

Accountant

Stephanie Grobbelaar, the school accountant, can be e-mailed directly on accounts@courtney.co.za. She is an outsourced employee and is only available at the school campus on Wednesdays. Please remember to use the correct reference number when making electronic payments and to submit a copy of the proof of payment.

Third Term Resumes

The third term resumes on Monday 23 July and shall continue until 21 September.

Welcome Back

We extend a warm welcome back after the winter holiday and wish all our new families a happy and exciting term ahead.

Foreign Languages Festival

On Thursday, 21 June, parents of children in Reception Year to Grade 4 were invited to watch their child’s recital. This was a huge success and we thank the parents who attended as well as Teacher Linda for organising the event, and the foreign language teachers for their effort in preparing the children.

Progress Reports

Parents who have not collected their children’s academic reports are urged to do so by the end of the week.

Sad Farewell

We wish Teacher Jana well as she has decided to resign from her position as Grade 1 teacher due to ill health and we extend heartfelt thanks for her wonderful contributions during her time with us.

In her place, we are proud to announce that Teacher Candace, an existing member of staff and a Grade 1 teacher of many years, shall take over with her bubbly enthusiasm.

Grade 4

Teacher Cydne is thrilled and excited to become the Grade 4 Homeroom and Integrated Studies Teacher with Teacher Cara taking over the Maths and Science and Teacher Demi teaching English, assisted by Teacher Cydne.

Stage Production

Courtney House shall stage “Diamond Dunes” at the Atterbury Theatre on 6^th and 7^th December 2012. All children in Pre-R to Grade 7 shall perform as well as those senior students who have auditioned for roles. Performers shall be expected to be available for stage rehearsals from 3^rd December until the performance evenings. Parents are kindly asked not to make arrangements for early holiday travel.
